Nonotuck Valley Knights, 2016-2017 State Champions

The Nonotuck Pee Wees celebrate their championship.

Nonotuck Valley Knights, 2016-2017 State Champions for 12U (Pee Wee) Tier III Small

For the first time in association history, the Nonotuck Knights Pee Wees were triumphant in the Massachusetts Hockey State Championship Tournament. The Pee Wee team competed in the Tier III Small division and were named champions after defeating Billerica in the title game. Throughout the tournament Nonotuck went undefeated against teams in their pool from Triton, Shrewsbury and Billerica.
After defeating the Medfield Peewees in the semi-final, the Knights advanced to the championship game on Sunday, March 5. The game against Billerica was a hard fought, scrappy affair which ended in a victory for Nonotuck 2-1.

The medal ceremony video is below, courtesy of Patrick DeFalco.

The Nonotuck PeeWee roster includes: Jack Belcher-Timme, Nathan Callan, Evan Carmody, Tyler Darling, Ryan DeFalco, Owen Duda, Paige Galpin, Ben Gottlieb, Gabe Growhoski, Rowan Howe, Nolan Jasiorkowski, Liam Reynolds, Michael Rodriguez and Russell Welch. They are coached by Jim Growhoski, Jesse Belcher-Timme, Matt Jasiorkowski and Lee Callan.

Congratulations also go to the Nonotuck Bantam team who were finalists in the tournament. The Bantam team went undefeated in pool play, but were defeated by the South Boston team in a 6-4 loss that included a thrilling third period.
